Our Story

Our story is one carved from lived experience.  Our CEO’s husband, Mark Ferguson is the inspiration behind One 3 Care. In April 2023, Mark's life changed in an instant when he sustained a cervical Spinal Cord Injury in the surf on the Gold Coast and became an incomplete tetraplegic.

After navigating his own rehabilitation journey since 2023, Mark advocated to establish One 3 Care so that people with neurological conditions can access the right help from Occupational Therapists who truly understand their condition.

At One 3 Care, we help adults and teens with spinal cord injury and other neurological conditions, persistent pain, fatigue, and functional symptoms to regain independence, improve daily function, and move toward the life they want to live.

Our Approach:

Our therapy is trauma-informed. We combine physical rehabilitation, cognitive strategies, and emotional support so your progress is steady, sustainable, and tailored to your goals.

Recovery isn’t just physical — and it’s rarely straightforward. Whether you’re just beginning your rehabilitation journey, or you’ve already tried traditional rehab but still feel stuck, we can help with symptoms such as:

  • Persistent pain or fatigue

  • Ongoing physical or cognitive difficulties

  • Upper limb rehabilitation after spinal cord injury,
stroke, brain injury, or other neurological conditions

  • Functional Neurological Disorder (FND)

  • Complex trauma-related changes in daily life

Why Choose Us?

  • Specialist expertise — We focus on neurological rehabilitation and upper limb therapy, supporting conditions from brain and spinal cord injury to FND and complex trauma.

  • A unique approach — Recovery isn’t “one size fits all.” We look beyond surface symptoms to understand what’s really getting in the way of progress — and help you move past it.

  • Support for the whole picture — From pain and fatigue to emotional changes and cognitive difficulties, we address the challenges that often stall recovery.

  • Advocacy and navigation — We help you navigate NDIS, NIISQ, equipment prescription, and the reports needed to unlock ongoing support.

  • Experience you can trust — Care grounded in professional expertise and lived experience. We understand what it’s like to walk this path, and we meet you with both knowledge and compassion.

Renee was absolutely wonderful to work with post brain + spine surgery. When you’re use to appointments where you’ve only got minutes to speak to a professional about their specific area, it’s a breath of fresh air to have an extended session to talk about the whole picture. Her empathy and reassurance have helped my recovery immensely.

How it works:

  1. Referral received — from you, your family, or your healthcare provider.

  2. Initial consultation — we listen to your story, understand your goals, and identify barriers.

  3. Therapeutic alliance — we build trust and consistency before moving into intensive rehab.

  4. Personalised rehab plan — integrating physical rehabilitation, cognitive strategies, and
    emotional support.

  5. Ongoing review & progress — adapting as you heal and your independence grows.

Some clients come to us with a diagnosis. Others are still searching for answers. In every case, we start by listening — then create a personalised path forward.

We’re committed to ongoing professional development and bring the latest neuroscience, rehabilitation techniques, and trauma recovery principles into every session.

We also understand the systems you navigate from NDIS advocacy and FCA reports to assistive technology requests and we can guide you through them with clarity and confidence.
