Paediatric Pain Support (Brisbane)

Children and young people living with persistent or complex pain often experience challenges that affect far more than just physical symptoms.

Pain can impact school attendance, sleep, movement, emotional wellbeing, confidence, friendships, and participation in everyday life.

At One3Care, we provide occupational therapy support tailored to the individual needs of children, adolescents, and their families — helping young people gradually rebuild confidence, improve daily function, and reconnect with the activities that matter most to them.

Who this is for

This service may be appropriate for children and young people experiencing:

  • Persistent or recurring pain

  • Fatigue or reduced activity tolerance

  • Difficulty attending school consistently

  • Withdrawal from social or recreational activities

  • Functional neurological symptoms

  • Nervous system dysregulation

  • Reduced confidence in movement or physical activity

  • Difficulty managing everyday routines due to pain or exhaustion

We support children, adolescents, and families navigating the complex impact persistent pain can have on daily life, participation, and wellbeing.

  • Fatigue and energy management strategies

Our focus is on helping young people build confidence, improve function, and gradually reconnect with meaningful activities in ways that feel safe and sustainable.

What working with us looks like

We begin by taking the time to understand the full picture — including how pain is affecting everyday life, routines, school participation, emotional wellbeing, and family dynamics.

Support is tailored to the individual needs and goals of each young person and may include:

  • In-home, community, clinic, or telehealth appointments

  • Collaborative goal setting

  • Practical strategies integrated into everyday life

  • Support for gradual participation and activity engagement

  • Communication with families, schools, and healthcare providers where appropriate

Our approach is flexible, supportive, and designed to evolve as needs change over time.

Our approach

At One3Care, we understand that persistent pain is complex and often deeply connected to stress, fatigue, nervous system regulation, emotional wellbeing, and everyday participation.

We take a gentle, trauma-informed, and family-centred approach — recognising that progress is rarely linear and that each child’s experience is unique.

Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, we work to help children and families better understand pain, reduce fear and overwhelm, and build sustainable ways forward.

Our goal is to help young people feel safer in their bodies, more confident in daily life, and better able to participate in the activities that matter to them.
